Bacon Wrapped Meatballs
To make moink balls you need a few things:
- Meatballs (you can make your own, but to save time I buy good, quality bag of frozen meatballs and allow them defrost in the fridge overnight).
- Bacon
- toothpicks
- Killer Hogs’ BBQ Rub
- Killer Hogs’ BBQ Sauce
- Apple Jelly
Now that you have all your ingredients, you first take your bacon and cut the slices in half. Then to assemble your moink balls, you wrap the bacon around the meatball and use a toothpick to hold the bacon in place.
Once you have all your meatballs wrapped in bacon, now it comes time to season your Moink Balls with Killer Hog’s BBQ Rub. But you can use any BBQ Rub you like.
Now it’s time to grill or cook your Moink Balls. First you need to get your smoker or grill set at 275 degrees. Then you place your moink balls on the cooker and let it do it’s magic.
Because the meatballs are already cooked, you aren’t worried about the internal temp – but you want to cook your moink balls until the bacon has a great, mahogany color. This typically takes 1 – 1.5 hours.
Just start checking on your Moink Balls at the 45 min mark and keep an eye on them until they have the color you want.
Once these bacon-wrapped meatballs – or Moink Balls – reach the color it’s time to apply your glaze. For a good Moink Ball glaze I like to use 18oz of Killer Hog’s BBQ Rub and ½ cup of apply jelly.
Just dip each Moink Ball in the glaze and place it back on your cooker for 10 – 15 minutes to allow that sauce to set.
Once your glaze has set on your moink balls, it’s time to pull them off and serve these delicious bacon-wrapped meatballs.
This is perfect football food for tailgates or parties at home.
