What’s the point with the long braise?  I do mine indoor and poach/simmer in beer for 20 mins.. saute onion and peppers and throw in the brats to brown them and done.. You almost made an onion soup.  Also dijon on brats is the way to go !! Unless you’re using lump charcoal and/or wood chips seems like a waste of propane to do em this way.. May as well do em in the oven and finish on a charcoal grill but I wouldn’t waste charcoal just to brown em up. Just my 2 cents.” – mixwell1983

45 minutes in a beer bath?! That’s waaaaay too long. About 8, 10 minutes tops in a onion beer bath and then put them on the grill and cook for about 15-18 minutes. I guess it’s a Wisconsin thing.” – marinetiger29
